Diocese of Saginaw Launches Myefaith.com Website to Promote Summer Youth Event

SAGINAW – The Catholic Diocese of Saginaw has launched a new website, myefaith.com, to promote its upcoming MYE Faith youth event on Aug. 8, 2015 at Saginaw Valley State University. MYE Faith, which debuted in 2013, is a one-day event in which youth encounter Christ through the Eucharist, dynamic speakers, spirit-filled prayer, stirring music, and more.

“With Bishop Cistone’s leadership, the generous people of our diocese have again worked together to make this youth event free for attendees in the Diocese of Saginaw,” said Mark Graveline, coordinator of youth ministry for the Diocese of Saginaw. “Myefaith.com will help us to reach more youth and encourage them to participate in this awesome experience. Our hope is that they will grow closer to Jesus Christ while they are there having fun with their friends.”

The new Myefaith.com website includes photos and videos showcasing the MYE Faith youth event experience. This year’s event headliners are featured on the website and include JJ Weeks Band, which will perform a concert for the youth. The band’s song “Let Them See You,” was a Billboard top 20 song for more than 30 weeks. Another highlight includes former Miss Michigan, Kelly Nieto, who is the creator of “The Cross and the Light,” an epic, Broadway-style musical which shares the story of Jesus’ death and resurrection. She will bring the concert experience to the event and will speak to the youth during breakout sessions planned during the day. These and other activities, including information about other featured speakers and breakout sessions, volunteer opportunities and contact information for event coordinators in every parish across the diocese is available on Myefaith.com

An exciting feature of myefaith.com is its responsive design, which means it automatically adjusts for appropriate viewing depending on the device being used to access the site, such as a smartphone, tablet or laptop computer. Event coordinators also are able to log into the website to download and order free marketing materials.

The theme for 2015 MYE Faith youth event is "Got Love?" There is no fee for youth attendees and adult chaperones in the Diocese of Saginaw. Free bus transportation to and from the event is available. Those interested in attending the event may find registration information at myefaith.com. Youth will soon be eligible to win prizes for referring friends and parishes will also be eligible to win prizes according to the number of youth they bring to the event. The website will continue to be updated and information about prizes will soon be on the website.

Dramatic Performance Produced by Former Miss Michigan to be Featured at Catholic Youth Event

SAGINAW – “The Cross and the Light Concert Experience” will be performed at the upcoming MYE Faith youth event on Aug. 8, 2015 at Saginaw Valley State University. “The Cross and the Light Concert Experience” is a musical performance about Jesus produced by former Miss Michigan and Miss America Runner-up, Kelly Nieto.

“The Cross and the Light” has been performed for over 70,000 people around the world. Seven performers will travel from as far away as New York City for the youth event, including rising stars such as Tim Bowman, Jr., son of jazz legend Tim Bowman and nephew of gospel icons Vickie and CeCe Winans.

“As a musician, I’ve opened for Garth Brooks, Willie Nelson, and many others and the singers who will travel to Saginaw are just as talented,” said Nieto. She not only praises the talent of the cast, but also their generosity as well. For example, Nieto initially knew that she could not afford to hire Tim Bowman, Jr. after he secured a record contract with Capitol Records which released albums by artists such as Frank Sinatra, The Beatles and many others. Yet, Bowman enjoyed performing in the “Cross and the Light” so much that he agreed to continue doing so.

“The Cross and the Light Concert Experience” is one of the highlights planned for this summer’s youth event that will also include Mass with the Most Rev. Joseph R. Cistone, Bishop of Saginaw, an evening concert with JJ Weeks Band, breakout sessions with Kelly Nieto and others and much more.
